2025 saw FilmOffaly’s launch of a new documentary mentorship scheme which offered budding filmmakers from Offaly the chance to learn on the job and gain a professional credit for their CV.

Successful applicants received training in all aspects of film documentary production, giving them the knowledge, experience and confidence to work on a paid placement on a new documentary commissioned by FilmOffaly. The mentees worked together on the production of a short documentary which was to be based on a unique and compelling subject matter with a strong connection to Offaly.

​The final product was Closed For Lunch, a short documentary film ready for submission to film festivals. This was an inclusive work made by five talented Offaly filmmakers, under the mentorship of Offaly’s Mixed Bag Media.
