FAQs
How do I apply for a filming Permit?
Forms are available via our website, or you can contact us directly at filmoffaly@offalycoco.ie
Do I have to pay a fee to film in the county?
At present, we do not charge for permits to film in the county. However, fees will apply for the use of Council Property as an interior location and for road closures.
How much notification time is required?
Put simply, as much as possible, but we appreciate it’s a fast-moving business and can usually accommodate you reasonably quickly. If you’re working on a complex shoot with traffic/road closures, then we would need 2-3 weeks’ notice at the very least.
I’m only filming on private land, do I need to let FilmOffaly know?
If you are filming at a private location, then you are under no obligation to let FilmOffaly know of your activities. However, we’d appreciate you letting us know if you are working in the area, as it helps us gauge the popularity of Offaly as a filming location and it also helps us maintain the local infrastructure that supports filmmaking in the county.
Do I need to submit traffic and pedestrian management plans?
Yes, any shoot that requires a degree of managing traffic and pedestrians need detailed plans from registered traffic planners. Contact us as soon as possible with your plans and we’ll also cross reference it against any council activity.
