The FilmOffaly Short Film Award has been awarded on an annual basis since 2008 and is one of the undisputable highlights of our year.

This funding initiative aims to foster creative, resourceful filmmaking in the county and to leave a legacy for the local filmmaking community.

Since its inception this bursary has been responsible for the funding of sixteen short films, each of which are unmissable and many have gone on to be shown at film festivals and on TV.

The competition is open for entries in February each year, and is open for live-action fiction shorts. We look for authentic storytelling and unique, original ideas from talented new filmmakers- professional and novice alike. Successful applicants receive €12,000 towards the cost of their production and a local premiere for their completed film.
